Dale “Snort” Snodgrass Joins With Alldaron And SwissPL Watch Company.
In the early months of 2010, SwissPL - a private label Swiss wrist watch company - was formed by Alldaron Knewitz. SwissPL offers a unique opportunity to produce individually customized Swiss made timepieces for under $1,000 each. Up till this point that had been completely unheard of. As was always the tradition in Switzerland, dating back a hundred years , if you wanted to produce your own private label timepiece (add your name to the face of the watch or create a cool logo on the dial) you would have to order between 300 to 500 units; provided you could even find the manufacturing company. This excluded all but the most dedicated and wealthy people from making Swiss watches. This forced people to look to China for custom watches; though cheaper in manufacturing cost, the minimum quantity is often 10,000 units - and they aren't Swiss made.
For close to 10 years now Alldaron has been involved in the watch industry. Noticing a trend shift from retail to online sales years before the watch industry cared, he formed a Swiss watch company, partnered with his father, to be sold exclusively online in 2005. This was at a time when people said it would never work, they were crazy, they would go bankrupt. A common reply was, "People don't buy Swiss watches online". Looks like they were wrong.
Between the years 2005 to 2010, their company sold tens of thousands of watches online, cultivating satisfied customers reflected in the thousands of positive feedbacks they received. Their business approach was on a more personal level trying to focus on customer service over profit. Through this they built lasting friendships with their customers, which created a lot of referral sales. The company was sold in 2010 to an investor.
On behalf of his former company, Alldaron attended the Wings Over Miami Gala event in 2007. Here he had the honor of meeting Dale Snort Snodgrass , a legendary Navy F-14 Top Gun pilot and world renowned air-show performer. Dale, or "Snort" as he is known, has over 4900 flight hours and 1200+ aircraft carrier landings in the famed Grumman F-14 Tomcat plane. "Snort" is the most experienced Tomcat pilot in the world, a highly decorated combat veteran and the inspiration for the movie Top Gun. The famous scene where Tom Cruise does a fly-by was actually performed by Snort along side an aircraft carrier at sea, only yards from the ship, flying the F-14 Tomcat vertically. When Desert Storm ended, Dale was promoted to Navy Captain and was given the honor of commanding all the Tomcats in the U.S. Navy.
Snort is also the only pilot approved to fly in both the U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight Program and the U.S. Navy Legacy Flight Program. Sharing a similar attitude towards business, Dale and Alldaron partnered for a special edition Wings Of Gold watch which was produced in very limited quantity. They formed a friendship over the years and once Alldaron had launched SwissPL Snort joined the team.
Normally Swiss companies don't produce single watches, however since 2005 Alldaron and his father built such a business relationship with their manufacturer that they agreed to this unique arrangement solely for SwissPL.com - Their Swiss manufacturing company has been producing watches since 150 years; even catering to the production needs of some of the world's top Swiss watch brands. They utilize only the best materials and machines and only hire experienced watchmakers. SwissPL's manufacturing partner produces extremely high quality timepieces rivaling brands costing thousands more for a 10th of the cost. The manufacturer produces their own line which sells in Europe, Asia and the Middle East as a recognized luxury brand ranging in price from $2,400 to $5,800.
The custom watches offered by SwissPL are 42mm in case size with a 22mm steel Oyster bracelet; being constructed of surgical grade stainless steel alloy, with solid end-pieces, screws in the links (not pins); the clasp has a professional diving extension. The glass is sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective treatment. The numbers and markers on the dial are in Super-Luminova phosphorous (glow in the dark) paint. The watch is pressure tested to 1000 feet (which is 300 meters).
Alldaron along with Snort, and the SwissPL.com team, are working with various U.S. military units (Navy, Army and Air Force) producing custom watches for them.
